OIC/DC LAUNCHES OIC DCWORKS - Paid Job Training!!!
OIC/DC is proud to announce the launch of its newest program OIC’s DCWorks, a comprehensive approach to addressing the short and long term employment needs of DC’s Ward 8 residents. OIC’s DCWorks will help to service more than 200 adults, living in Ward 8 who are at least 18 years old with multiple barriers to employment.
This paid job training program includes; job readiness training, life skills training, customer service skills, computer literacy, conflict resolution, on-the job training, and job placement assistance. OIC’s DCWorks training will be conducted for 4 to 5 hours per day, five days a week. During this time, participants will receive a stipend based on time and attendance. At the conclusion of this hands-on 12 week training program, participants will then be placed in paid on-the-job training with area employers. After completing their on-the-job training, OIC/DC will help to place participants into a full time unsubsidized employment.
OIC/DC is a licensed Post Secondary Education Institution for non-degree students in the District of Columbia and a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization with more than 42 years of experience in preparing youth and adults for work and is a part of a nationwide network of affiliates.OIC/DC provides literacy, occupational skills training, job readiness, placement services, and strength-based case management services to hundreds of District residents.
OIC/DC also provides 4 nationally recognized certifications: A+ Certification - Computer repair and maintenance MOS Certification Pre-Apprenticeship Certification (Construction trades) Customer Service Certification
OIC’s DCWorks will be housed at two locations:
