There is a NEW commander at Bolling and his first order of business? Reconnect with the community by reversing the old "stay away" base policy and encouraging participation in Advisory Neighborhood Commission 8C (of which Bolling has 2 Commission seats allocated but currently vacant) and inviting the community from time to time to visit the base for special events.

I will be posting more information on this shortly but in the meantime would like to put the word out that July 4th on the base is the place to be. There are 1,000 parking spaces available on the base (first come first serve) and shuttles will be taking visitors to the park grounds where there will be military bands performing as well as Jazz bands. There will be food vendors and activities set up for kids. Folks are encouraged to bring blankets and things to set up for a picnic (just no glassware).

The Bolling is also looking for local vendors for the event.

It would be great if some school buses could be set up to shuttle kids and their families from the neighboring schools to the event.
