Ward 8 Farmers' Market Returns With Some BIG Changes
Market will launch its 13 season in just a couple of weeks. As our grand opening approaches, we'll let you know some special events.
We'll have Carl, James and Obberron, the fruit and vegetable producers you have known for years. We'll have chemical-free meat from our Amish friends at Garden Path Farm, fresh bread and pastries from Uptown Bakers, and surprises each week.
But we already have 2 pieces BIG NEWS,
1) We have a new location. Our market will be at
THEARC, at the corner or 19th and Mississippi Ave SE, near Southern Avenue. If you haven't had a chance to explore this community center, it includes art, music and dance schools, a Boys-and-Girls Club, the Parklands Community Center and much more.
2) Thanks to a grant from the
Wholesome Wave Foundation, Ward 8 Farmers Market will DOUBLE the value of any produce purchased from our farmers using an EBT Card, SNAP Card, WIC coupon or Senior coupon.
We have received support from many others including the amazing
Awesome Foundation, the talented graphic artist
Carolyn Sewall (who designed our new logo), and a generous individual gift from Nicole McCann.
Anyone who feels moved to provide additional financial support may click on the "donate" in the lower corner of our main web page. Any amount is welcome, and the funds will be used to assure that we can continue to offer until the last customer in the last market in November.
The first day for 2011 will by June 4. Hope to see you there!
