May 12 | Levine School of Music: The Sounds of U Street
The Levine School of Music presents "The “Sounds of U Street.” Historic U Street has been at the center of the musical life of DC for more than a century. Long known as “Black Broadway” U Street is best known for its many jazz clubs that were central to DC’s African American community. Drummer Andrew Hare and his troupe will paint a picture of this vibrant musical street and its influence on American music.
The concert will end with the celebrated Ballou High School Marching Band under the direction of Raymond Shaw.
