The Advoc8te
Dear friends of the 11th Street Bridge Park,
I hope this e-mail finds you well.
We've had a very busy month as we build DC's first elevated park over the Anacostia River! Here's what we've been up to:
COMMUNITY DESIGN MEETINGS Our next big event will be a pair of meetings on
Saturday, December 7.
At these community design sessions we'll give an update about our
progress, work in smaller groups to help prioritize programming
suggestions for the 11th Street Bridge Park, and use cutting-edge 3D
software to rapidly prototype design concepts. This
community-generated feedback will be incorporated into a nation-wide
design competition to be launched in early 2014. This is an amazing
opportunity to help shape the future 11th Street Bridge Park. Join us!
We'll have light refreshments at both events.
We'll hold a morning session from 8 am - noon (open house from 8 - 9
am; meeting from 9 am - noon) at Matthews Memorial Baptist Church
located at 2616 Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. SE. To RSVP and for more
info. click here:

Can't join the morning session? Attend our afternoon session from 2 -
6 pm! (open house from 2 - 3 pm; meeting from 3 - 6 pm) at 200 I
Street SE near the Navy Yard Metro stop. To RSVP and for more info.

See attached for a flyer. Please join us & help spread the word! We're
hoping for a good turnout from across the city.
GIVING TUESDAY Today is "Giving Tuesday," and as we approach the end of the year,
please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help realize this
amazing resource for the community. To date we have secured $538,000
as part of a $1 million pre-capital campaign, which is enough to
launch our nation-wide design competition in early 2014, but we are
still actively seeking funds for on-going programming, implementation
of an economic development analysis & health impact assessment, and
continued community outreach. Every donation counts! To make your
gift, please visit this secure site:

NEW BRIDGE PARK FILM! Over the summer we gathered community voices speaking about their
hopes and dreams for the 11th Street Bridge Park as we talked to
church leaders, planners, health officials, local residents, artists
and more. We recently uploaded this striking short film to our website
(it's the third video from the top.) Here is a link:

Thanks to the amazing film makers at Pendragwn Productions who donated
their time, passion and energy to this project. PLEASE post it on your
facebook pages, tweet links and share this amazing film with your
friends and co-workers!
We hope to see you this Saturday, December 7 at one of our community
design meetings - and as always, please e-mail or call with any
thoughts, questions or ideas.
Working together we'll create an incredible new civic space that
supports the community's physical, environmental and economic health!
