Office of DC Councilmember David Grosso seeks Receptionist/Office Assistant - $50k

JOB SUMMARY

Receptionist/Office Assistant to manage our front desk on a daily basis and to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks for the Office of Councilmember David Grosso (I-At Large) at the Council of the District of Columbia. The employee must reside in the District of Columbia or become a District resident within 6 months of employment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive at the office

·      Direct visitors to the appropriate person and office

·      Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls

·      Assist with scheduling and responding to invitations

·      Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email

·      Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable

·      Receive, sort, distribute and send mail/deliveries

·      Order front office supplies and keep inventory of stock

·      Perform other clerical duties such as photocopying

·      Handle administrative requests from office staff

·      Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

·      Customer service attitude

·      Professional attitude and appearance

·      Strong written and verbal communication skills

·      Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise

·      Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with co-workers, supervisors, members of the public and staff from other offices and agencies 

·      Demonstrated interest in the legislative branch of government

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

·      Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. printers, copiers)

·      Strong organizational skills

·      Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks

·      High school degree; additional experience or certification in Office Management is a plus

·      Fluency in a language other than English is a plus
