Dara D. is a Registered Hatha Yoga Instructor, based in the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan area. Her main area of interest is promoting yoga as a self care practice for Black women, men, and children. Classes are often taught in a beginner-friendly manner and language (unless otherwise specified) in order to allow practitioners to get comfortable with the postures and breathing exercises.

Featuring Regina Aquino and Josh Adams

In the wake of a mass shooting, lone survivor Claire yearns to find the compassion, understanding, and peace she needs to overcome her trauma—but thoughts and visions of the shooter haunt her every step. A timely exploration of violence, obsession, and our desire to fathom the unfathomable, The Events excavates the humanity found even in circumstances of extraordinary evil, examining the actors on both sides of an unimaginable tragedy.

Please note that due to the nature of The Events, there is No Late Seating once the performance begins.

THURSDAY

FRIDAY

Exhibit Runs 9/28-11/17

Love, Hope and Street Art is a physical manifestation of Luis Del Valle’s philosophy that artistic development is a critical element in community development. It improves quality of life by providing tools to modify behaviors through channeling self-expression into productive work and inspiring and motivating individuals, creating friendly competition grounded in positive behaviors. Love, Hope and Street Art is a multisensory experience that educates visitors about the visual language of street artists. Viewers are engaged to better understand street language through explanations of the symbolism of street art.

In the exhibition, the evolution of graffiti from tagging, throw-ups, and burners to the corporate boardroom is displayed and interpreted. Beyond Luis Del Valle's personal contributions to the installation, the artwork is provided by artists DECOY, Cory Stowers,  Asad Walker , and HKS 181, each of whom have created 10-15 years of street art (typically deemed illegal by authorities) and are now exhibiting in galleries.
