About Congress Heights on the Rise

Launched on June 27th, 2008, Congress Heights on the Rise was the idea of Ward 8 Nikki Peele, written under the alias The Advoc8te.

Realizing the vast void of information about Ward 8 and inspired by the success of the first Ward 8 neighborhood-focused blog, And Now, Anacostia, the early goal of CHotR was to bring attention and focus to a Ward 8 neighborhood relatively unheard of beyond its borders.

Today, CHotR stands out as a long-running and unique source of information on everything related to Washington, DC's Ward 7 and Ward 8. What sets this site apart is that it is inspired by the stakeholders who know it best — the residents, nonprofit organizations, small businesses, civic associations, and elected officials who call it home.

This website aims to publish content seven days a week, 365 days a year. And barring the occasional illness or technical issues, that's what happens.
