🦮 ADOPT ME! Fendi is available to a good and quiet home
Fendi is a 5 year old Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix, who was rescued from a hoarding situation. When he came to HRA a year ago, he was very fearful and not used to being touched or walking on leash. Our training staff enrolled him in HRA's rehabilitation program for severely fearful dogs.
After working very hard for a year, he was transferred to a foster home. During the past month, he has made a lot of progress. He is able to sit on his foster's lap and allows petting for short periods of time. He is able to walk outside on leash with a helper dog. He has begun move forward towards familiar people. He is still working on getting used to being touched by people and is very nervous when he is picked up. He will need time to warm up to his new owner(s) and will need to go very slow with new people and experiences. He is an extreme flight risk and will need to be on a secure harness and leashes when going outside. He is not house trained yet as he is still fearful outside, however, he does use puppy pads reliably.
Fendi will need to go to a quiet home with another small or medium dog-friendly dog. Another dog in the home will help Fendi to adjust to his new home more easily. Due to his current fear levels, he cannot go to a home with children.
The Behavior Department is here to support his adopters after adoption with ongoing phone and email help and a free private session, in person or online, as needed. If you are interested in meeting Fendi, please contact his foster at kmccullough@humanerescuealliance.org As an added bonus, if you're over 50, the adoption fee is waived as part of the Boomer's Buddies program! Standard adoption procedures apply
