UPDATE TO FOUND INAUGURATION TICKET STORY

This was such an excellent story, a wonderful demonstration of the spirit of togetherness and goodwill being demonstrated by people at this historic time - in particular a River East resident!

Below please find the update as posted on the 7D listserve to a wonderful story that was posted yesterday regarding inauguration tickets that were found on the metro. Luckily this story had a very happy ending.

From the family that found the inauguration tickets and worked so tirelessly to return them to the owner:

"Thanks all for the kind words. My daughter and I are simply tryingto live up to the standards of Dr. King and all of those who set theexample for all of us to follow (including Momma and Daddy who are nolonger with us but were at the 1963 march). My daughter, who's 23,is only 3 years younger than Dr. King was when he was leading busboycotts, so this is really small potatoes.

We managed to get in touch with Mr. Joe Murry, Rev. Hood'srepresentative, through Rep. Mike Ross' office (his contact info wasin the envelope) who was amazed when we told him that the ticketswere still in the envelope! He said that they are staying in Sterling, VA and were out for most of the day, so they didn't get themessages until after late, and by then, since they had a replacement set, he didn't want us to try to make the trek on Metro to meet them(and they realized that they were kind of stuck out in the boonies aswell).

I'm just glad that Rev. Hood was able to enjoy the inaugural this morning. Mr. Murry told me that the Rev. was able to snag a replacement set earlier in the day from Rep. Ross' office and offered us the tickets as a souvenir last night, but I promised him that I'd send him his originals tomorrow when I get to the office (I'll FedEx them) so he can have them framed or something. My daughter has made new friends as well, because she and the young folks in the entourage were still exchanging text messages with other last night! They came all the way from Arkansas.

Peace, Alice

PS--Yes we can...Yes we did...Yes we will."
