IN PICTURES: Barry Farm Neighborhood

Last Saturday,  The Advoc8te and some great volunteers from Ward 8 and beyond came together to give our dear pal and blogger UrbanArchitect of Barry Farm (re)Mixed a hand with some yard work at her Barry Farm condominium.  I'm going to wait for  UA  to post some pics of that day on Barry Farm (re)Mixed but I did take some pictures of the neighborhood that I am going to share here.

With all the negative stereotypes about the  Barry Farm  neighborhood - 99% from people who have never lived or visited the neighborhood I thought it would be informative  for people to see some pictures of the neighborhood. The Barry Farm (remember no "s"after "Farm") neighborhood has some pretty nice single family homes and some really AMAZING views! My little digital camera really doesn't do the views any justice. They are really some of the best views in River East and perhaps the entire city.

BTW - I wasn't robbed, beaten, or caught up in a  drive by shooting either. I spent a really beautiful  Fall day raking leaves and having a great time. I saw a lot of neighbors who stopped by to say "Hello" on their way to work. With all the negative news reports about Ward 8, especailly about the Barry Farm neighborhood,  I think people forget that these are neighborhoods made up of real good, hard working people. It's not fair that the focus is always on the negative and never on any positive - there is always some positive wherever you go.

I think this is an apartment building

Views of two different condominiums.  The yellow building was converted to condominums about two years ago. I heard units were going for low $300k at the market peak no idea what they are listing for now.

I think another apartment building.

Residents taking a stroll.

I thought this house was so charming.  The owners were out bagging leaves and tending to their yard all day.

Entire street of single family homes.

The views were just bananas! You could see from Virginia to downtown DC up to the Nationals Stadium and to 295 and all the way back to Catholic U.  The views alone are enough reason to move to Barry Farm. They have some of the best views in the city.
