THINGS TO DO: World House Series Events Next Week! Go!


The Humanities Council of Washington, DC established its World House Series to focus Washington, D.C. residents' attention on the important cultural and historical intersections that exist between their city and the international community. The program is inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr.'s concept of a 'World House' shared by all citizens of the world, each charged with the responsibility of protecting it, and making it a better place to live.

The World House Series brings together scholars who present on topics of international impact and scope. This unique program showcases Washington, DC's status as both a national capital, and international city. The series typically addresses concerns that affect urban areas around the globe, that can also be contextualized for a DC audience.

For 2010, the World House Series will focus on global climate change, the environmental movement, and their impact on Washington, DC. The programs will include:
