April 25 | Books & Barbershops w/ special guest Tony Lewis Jr. author of "Slugg"
From the DC Commission on Fathers, Men and Boys:
As part of the Deputy Mayor for Greater Economic Opportunity’s Fair Shot Month, we are excited to invite all of you out to our Books & Barbershops Kick-Off event on Monday, April 25 at 4pm at Davis Barbershop, located at 4646 Livingston Road SE.
Join us and special guest Tony Lewis Jr., community activist and author of “Slugg: A Boy’s Life in the Age of Mass Incarceration” as we raise awareness on the value of academic mentoring in a safe and culturally rich space. Barbershops have always held a significant place in the community. It’s a space where stories are shared and fathers spend time with their children. Now, it is a place for reading and learning too.
To RSVP, please contact either Tony Dugger, Executive Director at tony.dugger@dc.gov or Ajan Brown, Program Analyst at ajan.brown@dc.gov.
