Young Black Boy is a book filled with positive affirmations for black and brown boys everywhere. It was written as a letter from a black man, inner city teacher, community advocate and father to black boys. The poetic prose celebrates the possibilities for their lives while empowering black boys to take agency over their own future.
Young Black Girl is a book filled with positive affirmations for black and brown girls everywhere. It was written as a letter from a Black man, inner-city teacher, community advocate, husband, and father. The poetic prose celebrates the possibilities for the lives of Black girls while empowering them to take pride in who they are.
Eugene Banks is bringing his Young Black Scholar Workshop to the Busboys Stage. He will be reading Young Black Boy /Young Black Girl and leading an enriching activity around goal setting and positive affirmations. You can expect a unique experience you don't want to miss! Copies of the books will be available for purchase during and after the event, and Eugene will be signing following the program.
This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of YOUNG BLACK BOY/ YOUNG BLACK GIRL will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is IN PERSON and will NOT be livestreamed.
