Job Summary

This position is located in the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Project Delivery Administration (PDA), Policy and Sustainability Division (PSD), Sustainable Transportation Branch, Bicycle/Scooter Section.  The mission of the District of Columbia government's District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is to enhance the quality of life for District residents and visitors by ensuring that people, goods, and information move efficiently and safely with minimal adverse impact on residents and the environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Receives work assignments from the Lead over the bike/scooter section.  Installs, maintains, replaces and removes wide variety of bike and scooter rack devices on streets and sidewalks in the District of Columbia. Installs, maintains and repairs signage associated with bike and scooter rack installations. Installs flexible bollards, curb stops, and other infrastructure as needed. Performs outreach and notification to adjacent properties prior to any installations and removals.

Performs variety of tasks associated with installation of bike and scooter racks including in-ground and surface mount racks; supplies cement patch or tamped earth around bike and scooter racks, using a wrench, bolts, and other required materials. May perform minor brick removal and repairs to accommodate bike and scooter rack installation. May paint or install pavement and sidewalk markings associated with rack installations. Operates air gasoline and electric power drills. Performs any housekeeping tasks in the work area or in the materials storage area.
