Dec 6 | Dr. Julianne Malveaux discusses and signs, 'Surviving and Thriving'
MahoganyBooks is thrilled to host Dr. Julianne Malveaux, economist, author, television and radio commentator and the recent Dean of the College of Ethnic Studies at California State University, Los Angeles. Her weekly columns appear nationally through Black Press USA and the Trice Edney Newswire. She writes about economics, politics, gender, and race, most recently tackling issues of body autonomy, student loan debt, and inflation.
Dr. Malveaux is President Emerita of Bennett College, serving from 2007 through 2012. Dr. Malveaux hosts a radio program, Malveaux!, that airs on Mondays at 9 am EST on WPFW-FM in Washington, DC. She also regularly appears as a panelist on Roland Martin Unfiltered and makes frequent other television appearances.
She is the author of several column collections and, most recently the second edition of Surviving and Thriving: 365 Facts in Black Economic History with a new Foreword by Roland Martin. She is involved in several civic organizations, most notably the National African American Reparations Commission (NAARC) and the Economic Policy Institute. She graduated from Boston College, and earned her doctorate at MIT, and has taught at San Francisco State University, the University of California at Berkeley, and other institutions.
