Shakespeare Theatre Company, located in Washington DC, seeks an Executive Assistant to the Artistic Director and Executive Director. Working with the theatre’s leadership, this position plays a key role in supporting much of the executive work of the theater. The Executive Assistant also provides administrative support to our Board of Trustees and its Chair. Responsibilities include project management, scheduling and calendar management, executive communications and correspondence, record keeping and other administrative tasks. As hands-on support is needed, especially for our Artistic Director while in rehearsal, the Executive Assistant will primarily work onsite, with some flexibility to work remotely. Some weekend and evening hours for opening nights and theatre-related events are required. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and an annual salary of $55,000 - $60,000.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills as well as discretion, as they will coordinate with multiple departments and interface with stakeholders at the highest levels. Previous experience or knowledge about theatre, performing arts, and Shakespeare is helpful but not required. Candidates should have experience with both Mac and Windows environments, be comfortable running meetings on Teams and Zoom, and have the capacity to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly. They should possess an even temperament, be a self-starter, possess strong independent writing skills, and be fastidious about detail.
