June 16 - 28 | DC Streetcar to Temporarily Shorten Daily Service to 10pm
(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to temporarily end daily DC Streetcar service earlier than normal at 10 p.m. from June 16 through June 26. The temporary change in service hours is to accommodate essential overnight Pepco construction related to the Browne Education Campus modernization.
Effective Monday, June 16 - Thursday, June 19 and Monday, June 23 - Thursday, June 26, Streetcar service will end nightly at 10 p.m. The temporary adjustment is being made at the request of the Department of General Services (DGS) and District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) to allow safe and efficient mobilization for critical overnight construction work, including work near Phelps High School.
Currently, DC Streetcar service ends at midnight Monday through Thursday. The 10 p.m. closure will enable crews to begin work earlier, significantly lowering construction risks and improving project timelines.
Regular operating hours will resume following the completion of this phase of construction.
DDOT encourages riders to plan accordingly and use alternative transportation options if traveling after 10 p.m. during the impacted weeks.
