Now - Feb 7 | Temporary Lane and Shoulder Closures on I-395

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close lanes and shoulders on I-395 for the HOV Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

A mobile lane closure will take place on the I-395 HOV Bridge NB/SB on Saturday, January 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work is also scheduled to take place during nighttime off-peak hours (9:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) beginning Monday, January 27, 2025, through Friday night January 31, 2025 and nightly beginning Monday, February 3, 2025 through Friday, February 7, 2025, weather permitting.

  • I-395 HOV Bridge SB and Ramp A from 14th Steet to the I-395 HOV Lanes – Lane, shoulder and ramp closures will be in place southbound during nighttime off-peak hours.

  • I-395 HOV Bridge NB – Lane and shoulder closures will be in place northbound during nighttime off-peak hours.

Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zones. All roadway users are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in this area.

These closures are needed for construction activities associated with the I-395 HOV Bridge Rehabilitation Project. The project consists of rehabilitation of the existing fifteen-span concrete deck slab supported on continuous steel girders, concrete beams, and reinforced concrete substructure piers carrying the I-395 HOV Freeway Bridge (Bridge No. 169-1, also known as Rochambeau Memorial Bridge) over the Potomac River.
