Omar Ransom, 22, Arrested for First-Degree Child Sexual Abuse in SE

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Youth and Family Services Division announce a man has been arrested for a First-Degree Child Sexual Abuse offense that occurred in Southeast.
On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the suspect entered an occupied residence in the 1400 block of Smith Place, Southeast. Once inside the suspect engaged in unwanted sexual acts with the victim then fled the scene.
On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 22-year-old Omar Ransom of Southeast, DC. He was transported to the Sixth District Station where he was charged with First Degree Child Sexual Abuse, Burglary One, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The detectives’ investigation determined that the suspect and the victim’s mother were previously involved in a relationship.
